I want you to enjoy the interview with Katy Williams. After reading it, you will see how to get in on the opportunity to win a Kindle on May 15, 2012.
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
Katy Williams – Where’s My Cowboy Hat
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
The first heifer I ever showed, Nikki, was a handful. I sang jingle bells to her every time we stepped in the show ring to calm us both down.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
When reading to my children I realized there were not enough books that told the daily story of ranch life. And through our everyday activities I knew people could learn more about agriculture through children’s books.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
Short stories are my favorite but I always want to include a hidden lesson.
5. Are you a reader?
Yes, I love to read more now than ever, but it’s finding the time because I never want to put a book down.
6. What are you reading right now?
Waiting for it to come in the mail!!! Winners Don’t Whine, They Hustle by Chris Boleman
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
Yes, I have several stories written and lots of titles for future books. One of my future books is about the ranch dog that was lost in town!!
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
Time. I stay organized by writing down my thoughts and keeping up with the general idea of a story until I get a chance to sit down and write the whole thing.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here. (back matter is ok)
What was a boy to do without his cowboy hat? It just wouldn’t feel right doing my chores without it.
Sam wears his cowboy hat every day as he helps out around the ranch. But he can’t find it this morning! Where could it be? Follow Sam around the ranch as he retraces his steps to find his missing cowboy hat.
10. How can readers contact you or purchase your books? Please put your website or blog here.

A Request from Elaine Littau- You can be in a drawing to win a Kindle
You reader friends are so encouraging to me. A lot of you have sent me emails and mailed me notes to tell me that you appreciate my books and the other writing I do. I keep all of it. The emails are in a folder on my computer and the letters and notes are in a couple of boxes. This encouragement goes a long ways.
My first three books were published by a partnership publisher. This means that they put in their efforts and resourses and I had to contribute almost $4000. The contract said that when I sell 5000 copies of Nan's Journey, they will send me a refund of the $4000. Since 2009 I have sold 1785. I still need to sell 3215 copies.
It can happen. I believe that Nan's Journey is something that God wanted me to write. It might have been for my own heart. I had to learn to forgive and how to be forgiven and believe that I could have complete forgiveness. That is the main theme of Nan's Journey.
I have been trying to figure out how to get those 3215 copies sold. I did have an idea for groups and individuals to request copies to sell for a percentage of the sale. (Sell the book for $10 and you will get $3. I provide the books and there is no minimum order.)
If you want to do this, I would appreciate it. Another idea is that if you want to purchase them to give to prisons, rest homes, anyone you think could benefit from it, I would sell them for $7 each. There would be a charge for mailing if they would have to be sent out from Perryton. (It costs about $3 to mail a book. I could send it directly to the person of your choice with a note indicating it was from you.)
I don't know. The task is daunting. I still go to bookstores, homes, craft shows, other events...and sell as many as I can. If you would like to have a home show, I will come and give a humorous speech or topical speech to your group. I just charge travel expense and ask that I can sell books. (or you provide books (Nans' Journey) for everyone at the cost of $7 each. (I am open for rates on the other books as well.)
I know this sounds like a televangelist pleading for support. I am sorry about that. I also am open for suggestions you might have about increasing sales of Nan's Journey.
If you respond to this email, even if you don't request a book or event, your name will be in a drawing for a Kindle on May 15th. I also ask that you pray for me. This author business is a hard, but rewarding road. I dont want to do anything that is offensive, so if you are offended by this email, know that it was not my intention. I do pray for you and love you. - Elaine

Never Too Close
There are many times when I think about my family and friends who mean so much to me. I tend to hold them close to my heart.
My little boys would pull away from me when they were toddlers and feel that I was holding them too close. I just wanted to keep on squeezing them and breathing in their 'little boy sweetness/toughness'. There was nothing like it.
I had to release them and let them go on their way to their next adventure as well as let them grow up. As a mother, it is challenging to allow the kiddos to grow up. The hardest part is that sometimes they grow away as they grow up and move on.
The hope is that when they come home for visits, they find love, home, and happy memories. I hope they find a mother and daddy full of the love of God.
I pray that they see that love pulls them into our heart from their first breath and after it is planted, it never goes away. It doesn't matter how many miles or ideas separate us.
I have to admit that I still feel like that young mother who wanted to squeeze tightly and make them submit to my will. Only now, I have to watch as they don't just toddle off to their adventures, but as they make decisions that affect their eternal destiny.
May they always realize that my heart has never let go and my prayers are squeezing them closer. My love is strong, but God's is stronger.
Today I would like to introduce you to another author friend of mine. Meet Aileen Stewart. She has written a delightful children's book that reminds me of the Uncle Wiggley series my boys loved reading years ago.
Aileen Stewart ~ Children’s Author ~ Fern Valley ~ http://aileenw4bobbyg.tripod.com
1. How long have you been an author and when did the desire to write (the writing bug) bite?
I had my first taste of writing when I was in fourth grade and won honorable mention in a poetry contest. This and the fact that my father was a freelance writer for hunting and fishing magazines and both my parents were great story tellers helped form my love of reading and writing. I spent many years writing poems and short stories, which I occasionally entered in contests, before I actually became serious about writing. It was while watching cartoons based on books, with my daughter, that I imagined myself writing a book. My husband was instrumental in encouraging me to follow my dream and FernValley-A Collection of Short Stories was born.
2. Why did you choose the genre you write in? Are there plans to write in another genre?
Basically I never outgrew my enjoyment of children and young adult books, so it seemed natural for me to choose to write a children’s book. To me there is something fresh, innocent, and joyful about writing for children. It is also a way to revisit my childhood and the memories I have from that time and incorporate them into modern day stories.
3. Please tell about each title here:
Let children discover Fern Valley, and they will step back in time to a place where a nineteen fifties small town feel brings a sense of peace and security. A place where no one locks their doors and everyone knows everyone else. A place where above all, the characters know they are loved and supported by their families, friends, and even the surrounding community.
Told through the eyes of youthful farm animals, this work is a series of short stories about children, their feelings, and how they deal with life. Characters such as Roberta and Mildred Cornstalk, two ordinary but imaginative chickens living on a small farm with their parents and brother, display the resiliency of children even when faced with issues such as the loss of a loved one.
A plethora of other colorful characters from goats to rabbits are sure to entertain with their antics and insights. As the readers find out what happens to Roberta and Mildred’s brother Edward when he goes fishing, what birthday surprise is in store for Betsy Woolrich, or what lesson Kimmy Curlytail learns when she keeps something that is not hers, they will be drawn in as surely as if they themselves were present.
4. Do you do speaking engagements? Tell about your subject matter.
I speak at schools, libraries, or clubs to which I am invited. With children, I speak about my book, reading, and writing. With adults, I generally speak about the writing process and my publishing experiences.
5. What has been your most rewarding experience as an author?
I did a book signing at the local Barnes and Noble in my area and shortly thereafter, I received a call stating that they had a mailing tube for me that someone had dropped off at the store. I stopped by the next day to see what it contained and was pleasantly surprised to find a large pencil sketch of my daughter sitting on my lap reading out of my book. With the sketch was a letter from a retired grocery worker who was also an amateur artist. He stated that he had seen a picture of me and my daughter in the news paper and had decided to use it for sketch material. He went on to say that his father had written many books but had never been published and he wished me much success.
I also received letters from two young girls who had read and enjoyed my book. These pieces of fan mail are so special and most humbling. I still have a hard time believing that people are sending “ME” fan mail.
6. Where can your books be purchased?
My books can be purchased almost anywhere online:
Amazonhttp://amzn.com/1617395277
Barnes and Noblehttp://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/fern-valley-aileen-stewart/1100074715

7. How can readers reach you through twitter? through facebook? through your blog? through your website?
My website is “Fun For Kids” @ http://aileenw4bobbyg.tripod.com
I blog @ http://www.AileenWStewart.blogspot.com
My FB Fan Page can be found @ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Fern-Valley/109736815756550
My Twitter Name is @AileenWStewart
8. What was your biggest surprise at being an author?
Although I have a degree in Business and a Certificate in Sales and Marketing, I think the biggest surprise authorhood has brought me is the realization of how difficult marketing really is in practical application.
9. We all know that writing can be a lonely occupation, what do your family and friends do to lift you up when you are down?
Generally speaking, I am an optimistic sort of a person and don’t get down too often; but when I do, my family reminds me of how far the Lord has already brought me in the writing process. Looking back, I can definitely see a pattern of the Lord blessing what I put my hand to and this is usually enough to cause me to shake off any doldrums and be encouraged once again.
10. What was your favorite toy as a child?
I’m not sure that I actually had a favorite toy, but some of my most memorable toys were my Barbies, my Holly Hobby Colorform Country Store, and my Light Bright Set. Not only did my brother and I love our Light Bright, but our cat did as well. She would take a peg and carry it to the top of our staircase and drop it, watching it roll all the way to the bottom. She would then run down, collect the peg, and start all over. Watching her play was very entertaining. When it came to outside toys, I would have to say that the sandbox my dad made out of an old tractor tire was number one on the list of fun toys.
My little boys would pull away from me when they were toddlers and feel that I was holding them too close. I just wanted to keep on squeezing them and breathing in their 'little boy sweetness/toughness'. There was nothing like it.

Judy Drewett, author of "Til the Cows Come Home"
November is a time for reflection. It is a time to think of all the people who have meant something in your life. I was reminded of this during Brad Paisley's speech when he won entertainer of the year at the CMAs. He quoted Little Jimmy Dickens as he said, "If you see a turtle on a fence post, he didn't get there by himself." Brad was holding back tears. I was too.
I know that being a small-time author doesn't compare to what the entertainer of the year has accomplished, but the thing he said is still true. I haven't sold one book without a reader who is interested in seeing what I have to say, purchasing a copy. By purchasing my books, recommending them, reviewing them on national websites, or sending an encouraging email or note, you have put this "turtle on the fence post." I am thankful to you.I appreciate you.
As you know, November is the National Novel Writing Month challenge. So far I have written 26,000+ words. The challenge is 50,000 words. The book is shaping up and I think you will like it. The first 6 chapters on on my website. Click here to read them. Go to the tab that says "Gertie". It is listed last on the left colum on the opening page of my website. (Remember it is very rough.)
This week I am interviewing Judy Drewett, author of "Til the Cows Come Home."
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
'Til the Cows Come Home, By Judy Perry Drewett
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
I taught elementary school for 28 years and retired 3 years ago. My favorite thing was reading books to the children, which resulted in my strong desire to write children's books!
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
I began writing poems when I was 13. I always wanted to write a book of poetry.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
Highly imaginative style for young readers. Plan to write a rhyming book one day for K - 2nd grade.
5. Are you a reader?
Yes! Avid reader
6. What are you reading right now? O'Mallory Christian series by Dee Henderson
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
Yes! It is about the same little boy, Thomas, who is in my first book, with a big imagination! Called "Be Careful What You Wish For"
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them? Time and money. I spend a lot of my retired time visiting my mother in the nursing home. I have to make myself set aside a special block of time to write.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here. (back matter is ok) "Thomas, you'd better get out of that bed and get dressed for school or you'll be lying there 'til the cows come home." Inspired by a kindergarten student's curiosity, Judy Perry Drewett, writes about a little boy with a vivid imagination. Follow Thomas and his imagination as he begins to see cows everywhere he goes. 'Til the Cows Come Home is a story to be enjoyed by young and old alike.

Patricia Kubus, author of "Amanda Helps Becky Say Farewell"
Introspection
Last week I was asked to do an internet radio interview. One of the questions that was asked was: "Why do you write?"
Hmmmmm It had been a long time since I took time to answer that question. I do ask if of myself on occasion, but once again I was standing with this question to be addressed.
I love to write. When I am working on a book or article I feel very close to God. I feel His inspiration behind the stories that I tell. The character's interactions are a little like the way my sons are with their dad and me. It takes me back when I write the ligt-hearted scenes.
The troublesome scenes sometimes/most times are struggles that the Lord is working on me about. In "Nan's Journey", it was forgiveness. In "Elk's Resolve" it was overcoming depression. In "Luke's Legacy" it was realizing that God has no grandchildren. Everyone makes the decision for Jesus on their own no matter how much I want to make that decision for them.
Book IV, "Timothy's Home", is still in my laptop. I am thinking that the message of this book will be mostly about God's grace.
I write because I learn so much about God and I learn about myself. I write because, maybe, if you or someone you know reads my book, you will see answers to questions you have about everyday life and how Jesus makes a difference.
A new author friend of mine is Patricia Kubus. You will love reading her interview that she did for me.
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
My name is Patricia Kubus, I use my author name with my maiden name Patricia Goskowski Kubus. The title of my first Children's book is "Amanda Helps Becky Say Farewell"
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
One important information I would like my readers or I should say the parent's of my readers to know is that I am a dedicated and compassionate mother, I place these feelings in my writings. I love my children, along with all children as well.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer? My relaxation as a child growing into my years as an adult was poetry. Writing poetry always came natural to me and I found myself many nights writing my feelings in poetry to share with family members. My first born had died from complications of a birth defect, my writings turned into stories with summarized poetry; which helped me through tough times and I am now passing it along to be published to share with the world.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
I have only published the one story; which focuses on tough questions for a child about death. In each of my future stories, I pick situations that children find themselves in that are difficult to deal with; such as getting stuck in an elevator, going to school for the first time, and getting bullied around. These are situations where I find my character, Amanda the Angel can come in and help with questions each child has and/or keep them company for a moment to help them thru it. At the end, I summarize the story in a poem, which I think might be a nice reminder that they can hang on their wall or place in their side drawer to refer to from time to time.
5. Are you a reader?
Now I read more than I have in years past. I'm finding it fun now to be on good reads and do recommendations about books I've read. My children are young and I do what I can to keep their interest in books.
6. What are you reading right now?
"Getting Through the Tough Stuff" by Charles R. Swindoll
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication?
I have four books tucked away.
I actually found myself with an interesting option. Now that I have published my first book, my son came to me with a story he would like me to write. He gave me the core elements of the story of a young boy who's a basketball player. This player is pressured by the team that he needs to play better and my son wants me to have Amanda come in and help this boy with his pressure from the team players. My son wants me to point out in learning the fact that it's just a game and this young boy shouldn't have to carry such a burden to win. I was so blown away that my child took the time to write a story for me. I'm feeling compelled to write this next one just for him. It's a great feeling to know I'm pulling a little inspiration out of my child.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
I would have to say, my biggest obstacle is patience. I know if I write and then walk away from it, the next time I come back to it, makes it even better. Sometimes I force to much, because I'm anxious to get it done; when I let the right people help me to read it and I digest it, then come back to it, I make it better.

August is Here
August is Here!
Many things go through my mind at this time of year. Have I savored the summer? Did I really take time to be aware of everything?
You know how it is. You drive to town and don't even notice the scenery, neighborhood, flowers, or people.
In fact, last June I was headed back to my house from town and finally realized that the wheat was ripe! I am not a farmer, but there are massive wheat fields between my house and town. I didn't see the yellow fields on my way into town.
Things like this bug me. I wonder if I live my life going through the paces. Do you ever find yourself doing that? Let's commit to being aware, savoring moments, living life with our eyes wide open. Lets become aware of the goodness of God all around us.
I want to introduce Mary Lee, an author friend of mine to you.
1.What is your name and the titl
of your book(s)?
My name is Mary Lee. The title of my children’s book is My “Air Force” Mom.
2. What is one thing your readers would like to know about you?
I am a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force after 24 years of service.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
My husband and I were vacationing in Black Mountain, NC. Sitting on a swing in the yard of a B&B looking at the mountains, I thought of a poem. I wrote it down and my love for writing was ignited.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
My strong points are persistence and being confident enough to accept rejections and keep writing. My method is to write from 1 to 3 pages everyday, some days more but never less. I keep a small notebook of titles and ideas.
5. Are you a reader?
Yes!
6. What are you reading right now?
I just finished reading Deliver Us from Evil, by David Baldacci. Now, I am reading Reckless by Andrew Gross
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn’t been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
Yes, I am working on another children’s book. I wrote it several years ago but have been tweaking it for some time. I found a book Writing Picture Books by Ann Whitford Paul to be so full of information and ideas that I went through her book, completing the exercises. I decided to rewrite my book from the child’s point of view instead of the grandmother’s point of view. My book is about Katie learning to handle bullies at her school using humor. Katie comes to her decision after hearing a story from her grandmother who had used humor to resolve and embarrassing moment in her life.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
I need a deadline. I love to start writing, but finishing is a different matter. I overcome this obstacle by submitting my manuscripts to writing contest. This gives me a finish date which is the motivator I need.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here.
A winner in the Children’s Fiction Category of the 73 Annual Writer’s Digest Writing Competition, My “Air Force” Mom is unique. This picture book explores customs and courtesies of military culture through a child’s eyes. Author Mary Lee takes your child along with her fictional character Susie on a journey of discovery. From military uniforms through a military child’s “rite of passage” full circle to Susie’s development of a sense of pride and patriotism in our country. My “Air Force” Mom shows children that the military offers careers to women as well as men. It gives military moms and dads a book to help their young children begin to understand military life. My “Air Force” Mom gives civilian parents a tool to explain mysteries of military life to their children. Answers to a child’s curiosity are found in My “Air Force” Mom.
10. How can readers contact you or purchase your books? Please put your website or blog here.
Readers may purchase my book at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, Amazon.com, Barnes&noble.com or at Waldenbooks at Sumter Mall in Sumter, SC, and the State Museum Gift Shop, Columbia, SC. My book is available on the Military Writers Society of America website.

The Old Account Was Settled Long Ago
Today is the deadline to file your income tax in the USA. Yep, I said it. Sorry if it panics you. I have found that working in a tax/accountant office during tax season is a great way to study people.
In January, people come in and file expecting a refund. In February and early March the waiting room is jammed with people wanting the work done ASAP. In April...things are different. Beginning with April 10 or so it gets pretty busy, but few are expecting a refund. There is a reason for the procrastination. As April 15 dawns upon us many businesses file extentions. The truth is, THERE IS A DEADLINE.
You will notice that the title of this post is "The Old Account Was Settled Long Ago". Let me wax spiritual here. This is a song we sang at church when I was a kid. "There was a time on earth, when in the books of heaven, an old account was standing for sins yet unforgiven. My name was at the top and many things below. I went unto the keeper, and settled long ago. Long ago, long ago, yes the old account was settled long ago; and the record's clear today, for He washed my sins away, when the old account was settled long ago."
I want to remind you that one day the "deadline" will come. For some of us it will be our death. For some it will be when Jesus comes back. Consider doing your business with God before it is too late.
This week I am interviewing Linda Wiggins-Edwards. You will want to read this interview with a real live scientist!!!!
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
My name is Linda Wiggins-Edwards and the name of my upcoming book will be "God's Angels in I Am Beautiful" TM
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
I think readers would find it interesting to know that I'm a trained scientist. I have a B.S. in Biology and a M.S. in Medical Sciences. I've previously worked in research & in the diagnostics industry. I also have an education background. I've owned two tutorial services, and I've also been a classroom teacher, teaching 4th & 6th grade science, and 9th grade advanced algebra & Biology. Even though these have been my career choices, I've always made a hobby of writing, ever since I was a little girl. I've written stories, plays, poetry, and started writing children's books for the last 7 - 8 years.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
As I said, I've always made a hobby of writing, ever since I was a little girl. However, I didn't think of publishing any of my work until my husband read a poem that I had written for our youngest daughter when she was born. When he read it, he told me how good it was, and that I could turn it into a children's book. I thought about it for about 6 months to a year, before I really believed that he could be right. Once I decided to really pursue this, I re-wrote the poem into a story and began submitting it to publishers. What happened next however, caused me to stop writing for a while, because it made me feel as if my writing was not any good. I submitted my work to agents and publishers, and started getting one rejection letter after another. Once that happened, I stopped writing, even though I had several stories in progress by that time. It took until I submitted my work to Tate Publishing for me to realize what I had been doing wrong all along. I was submitting my work to publishers that published children's books, but I wasn't specifically looking for a Christian publisher. This is what made all the difference in the world. Once I realized that my purpose was to write Christian children's books and that I needed to find a Christian publisher, my work got accepted immediately, and I've been blessed with being able to write again, with a renewed spirit.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
I think my strongest point is being able to write about Christian values, and to honor & glorify God through my writing, but to be able to do it at a level that a young child will be able to understand.
5. Are you a reader?
Absolutely. I've always loved reading. A good writer must also be a good reader.
6. What are you reading right now?
A book called "Hearing God's Voice" by Henry and Richard Blackaby.
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
Yes. I have the one that is currently being published, and I've already completed another one and I'm in the process of finishing a 3rd. The 2nd one is about children as God's gifts and the 3rd one is about a parent's love.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
I guess my biggest obstacle is being able to focus on what I'm writing at the moment. So many times while I'm writing one book, I get great ideas for other books and then I have to switch to another document to write down my notes and ideas, and then come back to the first book that I was writing. It doesn't cause me too many problems though because I always pray when I write, to make sure that I stay focused, and that I write about the things that God wants me to say.
9. How can readers contact you or purchase your books? Please put your website or blog here.
When my book is complete (which will be in about 6 months or so), readers will be able to purchase my book from the Tate Publishing website. I am also in the process of building my own website, blog and Facebook fan page, so readers will be able to also find my book and more information about my books on these. These will become active once I have the illustrations completed for my book.

Catching Up
Those of you who get my newsletter regularly know that for the past few days I have been snowed in. It has been an opportunity for me to get some things caught up around here. I have been working on reformatting Luke's Legacy to send to the editors and I have also been putting together the details of the Authors' Book Marketing Workshop that we are holding in Denver on the weekend of July 10. This workshop is for all authors regardless of publisher. I think that even seasoned authors will find something helpful in the workshop. (I may be prejudice here though.)
Be sure and look at the new blog. You will find authors that I have interviewed here in the past and hope to interview in the future.
The new blog is:
http://titlesforsale.blogspot.com
Please go and look it over...& PURCHASE SOME BOOKS.
This week I am interviewing author, Terri Jones
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)? Nanny Mouse’s Tales…Raindrops and Rainbows
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
I have a deep passion to help families and children
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
When I was in high school
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
I enjoy getting lost in the story, it becomes so real as I am writing.
5. If money were no object would you prefer being at home or being a world traveler?
Both! J I love traveling but love being at home with my family!
6. What are your favorite kinds of books and movies? I really love such a wide range, variety sums it up! Some days I love being lost in a novel or chick flick while others I am in deep thought and reflection.
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it. Yes, it is a book to go along side my children’s book, written for moms of all ages for the most part. My children’s book came about due to our son’s battle with cancer. There is so much you cannot communicate in a children’s book so my desire is to tell our story and encourage those in the dark storms of life! God is always there even when the clouds seem to block His presence, so a book to help us all remember that and celebrate it.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
I would have to say time management and self doubt. I have an accountability partner who is also a writer. We hold each other accountable to write something each week and also to cheer each other on! I also know prayer is essential in over coming the doubt, the key is to focus on Him and obey what He is putting in your heart to do.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here. When the first rainstorm in one hundred years comes to Rainbow Towne, the children are frightened, and Nanny Mouse must explain to them the importance of rain. Throughout the thunder and lightning, Nanny Mouse shares God's gift of the rainbow and the promise that it signifies. And as the children creep out from under the bed, they are able to behold the beauty that God has created and understand that they are unique and special to him. By overcoming the frightening struggle of a thunderstorm, all the mice learn how to appreciate both Raindrops and Rainbows. Using her son's battle with cancer as inspiration, Terri Jones tells a story of overcoming trials and fear that will teach and comfort both parents and children. Terri Jones lives in Athens, Georgia, with her husband, Jerry. She has eight precious grandchildren and a deep love and passion for helping families.

My "Prown"
I am the sixth of six children in my family. (so is Terry) My brothers and sisters were mostly grown up when I came on the scene. My closest brother in age, Jim, was around 13 yrs older than me. He married young and I was the only child left at home. I had a lot of nieces and nephews to play with and I didn't mind that.
I don't know when my fastination with crowns started. I think it was from the old television show "Queen for a day." I LOVED that show. I didn't care that the lucky woman usually got a new refrigerator and washer. All I cared about was the crown. I also liked the robe, but the crown was the thing. I imagined myself with a crown and that was one of the reasons I was so interested in going to heaven. (I know... shallow ...but I was 4!)
One day, before he got married, Jim, came into our little house with something for me. He had gone to the corner drug store (the name of the store was Corner Drug.) and purchased the most beautiful crown you ever laid your eyes on! It had to have been the largest in the store because I still haven't seen one that size for sale at Walmart or anywhere. It had very nice rhinestones and was perfect. My heart skipped a few beats! He put it on my head and I danced like crazy. I called it my "prown". (Remember, I was 4.) There have been few gifts in my lifetime that have meant as much to me. My old walking doll, Mary, wears it now with jeans and a red top in the corner of my bedroom. My brother, Jim, is a dear friend to me still. We have the best conversations. I love him so much.
My other brother, Maynard, is so attentive to everyone in the family. He remembers birthdays and events. He calls often and gives me the gift of time. He is the greatest! I love him, too.
My sister, Geraldine, is my rock! She is someone I couldn't do without. I love her so much. We have lived in the same town my whole life. There have been few days that I haven't seen her or talked with her. She is so precious.
I have two sisters who have gone to be with the Lord. One, Wanda, left at age 35 in 1976. I still miss her every day. I am able to put my arms around her by holding onto her 5 children and loving on them. The other, Donna, passed away in 2001at age 69. She was always an encouragement. We used to talk a lot on the phone. I miss both of them so much but I can still hear their sweet voices and laughter. I could never forget their singing, laughter, stories and love.
One day I will see them again and I will get my crown. Then I will kneel at the feet of Jesus with all the others and place my crown at His feet because He is worthy of all praise and He is the King.
Today I want to introduce to you Shawna Blalock. She is also a Tate Publishing and Enterprises author. You will find this interview very sweet and interesting.
1. What is your name and the title of your book?
Shawna Blalock That Puppy Dog Took My Boots
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
Most people ask if I have always been good at writing and the answer is yes, they also ask if I always knew I wanted to be a writer and the answer is no.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
A couple of years ago I prayed for a platform to be able to spread God's word and after about 6 months the Lord showed me that writing children's books was how I could spread His word. I have two small children and he is using them to give me stories to write about.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
God has given me the ability to tell stories.(written or spoken)
5. Are you a reader? Somewhat
6. What are you reading right now?
I am reading Boy-Sterous Living by Jean Blackmer
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication?
Tell about it. I actually have 6 more stories written, they are all about my oldest son and the interesting things he says and does. Two or three of them are experiences involving teaching my oldest son about Jesus and that he lives in our hearts.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
For me my biggest obstacle is time. My two sons provide more than enough stories to write on but between being a stay at home mom, taking my oldest to Playschool and running after my 2 year old the day slips by. Oh did I mention housework and dinner for my husband 5 nights a week? I wouldn't change it for the world because I am doing what the Lord is telling me to.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here. (back matter is ok)
Jeston is upset! He can't find his favorite pair of cowboy boots. The neighbor's dog, Fred, always liked them too. Did he take them? Author Shawna Blalock brings the reader through Jeston's journey to find out in That Puppy Dog Took My Boots

Baking Cookies With Sierra
My Daughter-in-law, Aimee, lets me know the cute things that my grandchildren do and say. (They are her and Stephen's children but that isn't the important part.) Not long ago 4 yr old Sierra was baking cookies with her Grandma Baker, (Yes, there is another Grandma. I will deal with it. ha ha) Sierra told her other grandma Baker that Grandmalaine stirs up good cookies and lets her use a knife. (?)
Okay...I use slice and bake cookies for the grandkids. When I stirred up cookies from scratch, the kids got bored so I buy a good tasting short cut. I promise I didn't let the baby have a knife. She saw me cut them with a knife. I think she got confused. That's my story and I'm stickin' to it.
Please read this interview with new author, D.G. Flamand
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
My author name is D. G. Flamand
2. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
I was 7 years old when I wrote my first short story. I realized then that I would like to do that full time. I submitted my first stories to a publishing house when I was 19 but that didn't go anywhere. Nonetheless, I kept writing for many years afterwards. I also became a fanatic of the game of chess and I played the game of chess at least 2,000 times. While playing the game of chess, my writings improved drastically. I conceived new ideas, new characters, new plots, and new stories. Today I'm brimming of ideas and projects to write. I'm 50 today.
3. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
I think I can conceive interesting new characters, plots, story lines, and stories.
4. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
I have several writing projects that I'm working on. One series is called - Tommy and the Magic Dictionary Series. This is a series of books I will be writing. It is about a six-year old boy named Tommy. Tommy wants to learn everything and he envies grownups because they know so much. Then Tommy receives a dictionary for his sixth birthday from his grandpa. No one knew that it was a magic dictionary. His father placed the dictionary on his dresser in his bedroom when Tommy went to bed. But that night Tommy couldn't sleep. While staring at the ceiling when in his bed, Tommy spoke into the empty room. And without realizing it, he uttered the magic secret that brought the magic dictionary back to life! The Magic Dictionary contains all knowledge that exist and he wants to share his knowledge with everyone. Tommy wants to learn everything and right now! So Tommy and the Magic Dictionary become best friends. From that point on, every day the Magic Dictionary teaches new things to Tommy. The title of the first book is - Tommy and the Butterflies. So the Magic Dictionary teaches Tommy about butterflies. The second book of this series starts production in a few days - beginning of October. I have 5 manuscripts fully written and ready for publication and 8 others in progress. I will be writing numerous book for this series. This series is for juvenile but anyone would like to read this series. It is full of magic, new magic, new characters, new plots, and new stories. There is no destruction of any kind in my books. And they are very positive and kids will learn new things. The first book of my second series will be completed in about 6 weeks from now. The title of this series is - The Little Cloud Series. The title of the first book is - The Little Cloud and his New Friends. This series is about the smallest cloud in the sky who is being told by all the bigger clouds to be careful because there are big winds in the sky. The Little Cloud reassures all the big clouds that there are no worries that he can float in all kind of winds. But one day a big wind pushed the Little Cloud and the Little Cloud lost control of his floating. The Little Cloud was pushed down to earth near Tiny Town. And it is there that the Little Cloud met the kids of Tiny Town and they became friends. The Little Cloud promised all the kids that he will come visit them every day. From that point on the Little Cloud goes down to earth and plays with his friends of Tiny Town. I have 10 manuscripts fully completed for this series and ready for publication. I will right many books for his series - not as many as the Tommy and the Magic Dictionary Series but I will write at least 25 stories. This series is for children. I have submitted 4 more manuscripts to Tate Publishing of another series. That series too I will write about 25 stories. I will hear back soon on this submission and it is for children as well. I have other series for children in planning. I also have two novels in progress for grown-ups. One book I wrote about 500 pages so far and it will have about 700 pages when completed. The other book I wrote about 200pages so far.
5. How can readers contact you or purchase your books? Please put your website or blog here.
Readers can buy my books from Tate Publishing. I do not have a website at this time.

Review of Super Sticks by Lisa Newkirk
I remember being in the lunchroom in elementary school when a girl came into the room who was in a wheelchair. Somehow, I couldn't get past the wheelchair. Lisa Newkirk's book shows Deborah, a girl with Spina Bifida, as a super hero with her crutches. I think this book will lead children to know that even if someone has to use a wheelchair, crutches, or even a white cane, they can still be a fun friend to have. Thank you, Lisa, for filling this need.

Tommy and the Butterflies, D.G. Flamand
D.G.Flamand's first book in the Tommy and the Magic Dictionary Series is Tommy and the Butterflies. I was expecting a typical darling children's book but it is so much more than that. Within the 95 pages of the book, children and adults have opportunities for learning facts about butterflies of the world and sparking their imagination with the fun packed into the storyline. The illustrations are wonderful and the feel and look of the book is splendid. The premise of the book opens up many opportunities for more learning experiences and fun. I look forward to reading more of Mr. Flamand's work in the future. My grandkids are going to love this and my husband will too!

The Presence of God
In Sunday School one morning we were studying about the Presence of God. Psalms 91 was the Scripture verse. I don't know about you but most of the time when I think of the Presence of God I think of a calm and sweet experience. When you read the 91st Psalm you realize that it is set in the location of a battlefield. He covers us with His wings. He is our shield and buckler. He protects us from the terror by night and the arrow that flies by day.
We know that God is everywhere, but usually when I am going through tough times I find myself saying something dumb like, "Where are You?" He is in the battle with you!
I am continuing with featuring Tate Publishing and Enterprise Authors. I have "met" most of them through facebook and the Tate Publishing fan page. In the following weeks you will have the opportunity so see the dedication and heart each person puts in their writing. This week I am interviewing Tanya Chippone.
1. What is your name and the title of your book(s)?
My name is Tanya M Chiappone and the title of my book is The ABC's of the B-I-B-L-E
2. What is one thing you think your readers would like to know about you?
I have a deep passion forchildren and even more so - I want children to have a deep desire and passion for Christ.
3. When did you know that you wanted to become a writer?
I have always enjoyed writing butnever really considered putting it to work. I have been called to writing children's books for many reasons - to glorify God and advance His Kingdom, and to advance my own knowledge and understanding of the Word I stand firm upon.
4. What are your strong points in your writing style or methods?
HAHA - I rhyme everything.
5. Are you a reader?
I do read. I read my Bible all the time. I also enjoy "detectivestyle" books (true stories about murder cases and how they were solved). Kind of a weird spectrum but I find investigations interesting.
6. What are you reading right now?
I just finished Final Truth by Donald "PeeWee" Gaskins.
7. Do you have another book that you are working on and hasn't been submitted for publication? Tell about it.
I actually have one book already completed and another in process. One is about the Creation and the other is about the Ten Commandments. They are both part of a series that will share similar titles. At this time, only God knows how many books will be apart of this series.
8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
My biggest obstacles have been being a single mom and working. I have also recently become engaged and have decided to relocate over 700 miles away. Packing and planning have also had to take priority over my writing.
9. Please put a description of each of your books here. (back matter is ok)
My first book (that will be hitting the shelves by November - I hope) is a walk through the Bible - Old and New Testament. It highlights different events, people, and places. It is also educational in that it teaches the alphabet from A to Z.
10. How can readers contact you or purchase your books? Please put your website or blog here.
Right now they can reach me by sending me an email to diamond_0526@yahoo.com and placing ABC's of the Bible in the subject line. If they provide me with their name and email address I will add them to my address book and provide updates to them once I am further along in the publishing process. Myfacebook fan page is http://www.facebook.com/home.php?#/pages/Tanya-Chiappone-childrens-book-author/240610360103?ref=ts As of right now, I am not yet sure of where or how to purchase.

Funny Things Always Seem to Happen to Us
This morning I went into the post office in my small town to pick up a package that was too large for our mailbox. Paula waited on me and grinned. "Tangle with any bears this week?" She said.
"Nope, not this week." I said. She came back with the small package and it looked terrible. It was caved in and we decided that it looked like it had been dropped from a plane.
Of course that made me think of a story. When Terry was cubmaster of our cubscout troup, the kids were supposed to pack a raw egg into some kind of package so that when it was dropped from an airplane it would not break.
The trouble was that the airplane arrangements fell through. No pilot. No plane. Dissappointed cubscouts. Terry and the den mothers' husbands climbed upon the camp building at our nearby lake and hurled the packages to the ground with all their might. The trouble was, too many of the raw eggs failed to break. We only had three or so prizes. I don't remember if our kid's eggs broke or not.
Paula grinned and said, "Everything happens to ya'll!"
I guess she could be right.
I am continuing with featuring Tate Publishing and Enterprise Authors. I have "met" most of them through facebook and the Tate Publishing fan page. In the following weeks you will have the opportunity so see the dedication and heart each person puts in their writing. This week I am interviewing Laura Wintczak Eckroat.

8. What are your biggest obstacles to writing and how do you overcome them?
I think my biggest obstacle is just sitting down and finding quiet time to write .... I need an office to write -- maybe someday!
9. Please put a description of each of your books here.
The Life of Bud -- This is the story of life and how important we all are and how hard it is to let go in the end. The story follows Bud, who starts out in life as a tiny bud -- he feels insignificant. But Bud grows into a beautiful, vibrant leaf on the Mighty Oak Tree and becomes a very important part of the tree.
My book can be used to gently talk about life and death to a child, it can be used as a comfort to any adult who has lost a loved one, and it is being used in many classrooms to teach the seasons and the life cycle.
